Bowman Returns — With a Cause

It didn’t take Cameron Bowman long to bounce back.

The former Santa Clara prosecutor, who was reportedly escorted out of the county administration building in March and resigned shortly after, resurfaced earlier this month: He’s starting up his own private practice.

“I’m excited about my new job,” Bowman said on Wednesday. “I’m doing something that I really enjoy now.”

Bowman said he is planning to take cases involving drug and alcohol addiction. He is hoping to keep his fees low — really low. He’s already got a few cases.

“I’m hoping to take more,” he said. “I’m just testing the waters.”

Two weeks after he mysteriously vanished from the district attorney’s office in March, Bowman told his bosses he was resigning for “health reasons.”

Bowman declined Wednesday to go into the details of his departure from the DA’s office, where he was a longtime and well-respected member of the major case unit.
