Turns out the anonymous voice mail received by Cal Law the other day was right, and Milberg Weiss partners David Bershad and Steven Schulman are indeed leaving the firm as they prepare to be indicted in a long-running kickback investigation.
The New York Times and Wall Street Journal report the story today, and late last night a representative of the firm called reporters to tell them the news. While Schulman has so far remained silent, Bershad has hired a spokesman, who gave us a copy of the lawyer’s departure memo (.pdf) to fellow Milbergers.
No one seems to know when the indictments will actually come down, but they’re widely expected to arrive once prosecutors figure out how to deal with the firm.
